A private pool is the rarest thing on this list. Eleven of the eighty-six houses have one, and they are the first to go for summer weekends and school holidays – so if a pool is genuinely the deciding factor, start here and work your dates around availability rather than the other way round.
The houses with pools cluster around the larger end of the collection, several sleeping twenty, with bedroom counts from five to ten and in one case eight bathrooms.
Indoor or outdoor changes the booking
An indoor heated pool is usable in any weather, which makes it worth the premium for an autumn or winter stay and is the single biggest difference between a good wet Saturday and a long one. An outdoor pool is a better experience in July and close to irrelevant in November.
If you are booking outside high summer, confirm whether the pool is heated and whether it is actually open during your dates. Some outdoor pools are seasonal, and that is not always obvious from photographs taken in August.

Some properties set opening times, particularly where the pool is in a shared or converted outbuilding.
Ask about supervision
Private pools are unsupervised. With children in the group it is worth agreeing who is watching before anyone gets in.
